| F irst I wish everyone you won't to follow my personal example. Indeed I tore my crossed ligaments of the right knee and as I could do anything else I began nunchucks.
S o let's assume that you are a martial artist in shape and without problems.
The most important thing is for you to have a club or at least someone who already know some good stuff about chucks. You will spare a lot of time practising the techniques and finding some new moves And that's not so widespread.
I've watched a lot of videos of NASKA tournaments and I have to say that even though the guys are very good at trickin' they don't use the chucks so much (perfect example : Gemma Nguyen –Capitol Classics 2000).
Two exceptions: Ryan Pinkston and of course Matt Emig.
S o if you don't have the opportunity to practise with some “master” then buy Matt Emig's Rock Solid Chucks Techniques.
I did it and trust me you won't regret it. He teaches all the basics moves some intermediates and more importantly he explains everything very well. It is a must have (nevertheless don't expect some throws or some techniques with one single chuck). As the opposite, don't buy Explosive nunchucks unless you are already a very good trickster.
A fter this watch some videos and try to understand the moves.
This quite hard you need to have already good basics and once more a “master” can be useful.
Last but not least, keep in mind that THERE IS NOTHINNG ELSE THAN TRAINING, THERE ARE NO SECRETS, JUST WORK.
I started nunchucks in January 2005 and the videos you've seen were filmed in July the same year, but keep in mind that during this time I trained something like 2 hours a day, 6 times a week most of the time.
You can find some videos on the website of Nunchaku France at www.nunchaku.fr.st chapter “spectacles”. These vids are quite fancy but hard to decrypt.
My 5 favorite “nunchuckers”
1-Matt Emig (USA)
2-Mariya Pekarchik, (BELARUS)
3-Marc Challand (France)
4-Ryan Pinkston ( USA )
5-Paygna Yang ( France )
I take this opportunity to thank Pascal Rocacher my coach from France
Good luck, work hard, train hard
